Importance of Water

Our planet, "The Water Planet," has three quarters of its surface area covered by water. The natural water cycle recycles the water and the various parts of watersheds help to keep it clean.

Do we truly realize how important water is to all forms of life? When people think about water, they believe that it is all around us. They think it is in endless supply. Turn on the tap, and there it is, water galore.

We shouldn't think this way though since most of the water is salt. Only 2.7% of the total water supply of the planet is fresh water, and less than 0.5% is available for humans to use.
